ALREADY ACTING FOR OWNERS
Transgrid Commences Compulsory Acquisition on VNI WEST (Victoria to NSW Interconnector West) Electricity Easements

The Victoria to NSW Interconnector West – known as VNI West – is a proposed new 500 kV double circuit transmission line connecting the high voltage electricity grids of New South Wales and Victoria. The preferred option runs from Transgrid’s Dinawan substation north of Jerilderie in NSW to new substations proposed near Kerang and Bulgana in Victoria. The Australian Energy Regulator announced its decision in May 2024 to approve investment in early works for VNI West.

Transgrid is progressing with:

➤ Obtaining state and federal planning approvals

➤ Community engagement, including work to negotiate easements on properties

➤ Design of transmission lines and substations

➤ Securing equipment such as transformers and conductors which have long lead times

Opening letters for affected land owners were issued in early October 2024. FM Legal has already been engaged to protect land owners rights and gain maximum compensation for the compulsory acquisition of an electricity easement on their land and ensure landowners rights are protected.

A guide to what is an easement is below:

FM Legal only acts for affected landowners in seeking full compensation, we don’t ever act for Transgrid or other parts of Government compulsory acquiring land.
