The Blacktown Health and Education Precinct is a $1.3 billion initiative that signifies progress in NSW's most populous local government area. This precinct includes a Blacktown private hospital and is designed to be a hub for health and education.
The precinct is strategically located between Blacktown CBD and Blacktown Hospital, bordered by:
The Western Railway Line to the north
Sunnyholt Road and Newton Road to the west
Griffiths Street, Marcel Crescent, and Blacktown Hospital to the east
Bungarribee Road to the south
The Blacktown Council has approved the redevelopment of the area adjoining Blacktown Public Hospital into a health and education precinct. This transformation aligns with the Community Strategic Plan, which aims to develop Blacktown into a modern metropolitan centre.
Blacktown Central Business District (CBD): A focal point for employment, housing, social, cultural, recreation, and transport infrastructure.
Draft Development Control Plan (DCP): Guides future development within the precinct, focusing on built form, movement, access, and parking.
Draft Section 7.11 Contributions Plan: Ensures new developments contribute to local infrastructure needs.
Draft Voluntary Planning Agreements (VPAs): Aligns Council’s strategic objectives with community development.
These plans were on exhibition from 20 September to 20 October 2023, allowing public review and feedback at the Blacktown Civic Centre.
