Metro West Rules out Rydalmere Station

There will be no Rydalmere Station Metro West. The NSW Government has released the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Metro West project, which outlines this decision and the key impacts of the Metro West for the suburbs that will get a station. A total of 154 properties are being acquired for this project, including residential, commercial, and industrial properties.

The announcement may come as welcome news for Rydalmere businesses; however, it is sure to bring disappointment to those who would like to see a greater injection of transport options to Sydney's North West region. Although Rydalmere has been marked as receiving ferry services for Stage 2 of the Parramatta Light Rail, it will now miss out on an integrated system linking the Light Rail to the Metro line.

Rydalmere Station Metro West Project: Key Details

Impact of the Decision

  • The NSW Government cited the extra cost of tunnelling to Rydalmere Station as a primary reason for its exclusion.

  • The Metro West line will stretch from the Sydney CBD to Parramatta and Westmead, aiming to reduce congestion on roads and the crowded T1 western train line.

  • Stations will include The Bays Precinct, Five Dock, Burwood North, North Strathfield, Olympic Park, Parramatta, and Westmead.
