Premier Chris Minns and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese recently announced that Fifteenth Avenue Austral would be upgraded with a $1b funding package.
The upgrade will involve compulsory acquisition of properties on the south side of Fifteenth Avenue between Cowpasture and Devonshire Roads, which are already zoned for this purpose. Further compulsory acquisitions may be required on the north side of Fifteenth Avenue to widen roadways that cross Fifteenth Avenue, but this is not clear at this time.
The upgrade will assist with the chronic traffic congestion experienced in Austral during peak periods, and also easier access to the new Western Sydney Airport from Liverpool, which is due to open in late 2026.
The upgraded roadway will assist greatly with the high traffic flow on the road due to the recent boom in residential development in the area. FM Legal has already worked for a range of land owners in Austral whom are affected by compulsory acquisition for purposes such as schools, road widenings and associated Government infrastructure.
