Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport Line Gets $1.8 Billion in Federal Budget

The Western Sydney Airport funding has seen a significant boost with a joint commitment from the Australian and NSW Governments. The total project cost for the Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport line is projected to be around $11 billion. This funding includes a $5.19 billion contribution towards the delivery of the Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport, covering critical infrastructure such as the Elizabeth Drive Overpass. All three major contracts for the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project have been awarded, ensuring the construction of new twin metro rail tunnels, approximately 10.6 kilometres of elevated viaduct, and six new stations between St Marys and the new Aerotropolis. This marks a substantial development in the ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity and infrastructure in Western Sydney.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced construction work would commence before the end of 2020 for confirmed stations including St Marys, Orchard Hills on the eastern side of Kent Rd, Luddenham near Luddenham Rd, the Airport Business Park south of Elizabeth Dr, Western Sydney Aerotropolis east of Badgerys Creek Rd at Bringelly and at the airport’s terminal.
